Professional Linkages Support for PNG Universities
Applications open now, closing date 18 November 2024
AAPNG is supporting PNG academics and university professional staff to participate in symposiums, conferences, or workshops in Australia in their area of specialisation. This support aims to strengthen linkages between PNG and Australian universities and enhance the quality of academic programs and administrative systems at PNG universities.
Academics and professional staff participating in the Professional Linkage Support will contribute to their university by applying the specialist skills, knowledge and linkages gained in Australia to:
- improve the quality of academic programs by updating course content and delivery approaches, and contributing to their own and their colleague’s professional development; and
- enhancing organisational quality by updating policy, practice and institutional culture.

Higher Education Partnership Stories
A breath of fresh air inspires female academic
Respiratory tract infections are the most common cause of death in Papua New Guinean children. Yet, there are no respiratory scientists or specialist laboratories in PNG. Shalon Taufa from the University of Papua New Guinea’s School of Medicine & Health Sciences is determined to change that.
Strengthening connections for women in PNG’s higher education sector
Working in academia and research is a tough field for anyone, but even more so for women. That’s why the PNG-Australia Partnership, through the Australia Awards Linkage Support for Women Academics Program, is supporting PNG’s women academics to attend conferences in Australia, to build new skills and networks to inspire and advance their research and activities in PNG.
